Policies and Procedures

Book Checkout Policies

K: One book at a time
*When students begin AR, they will be able to check out two books.

1st: two books at a time
*When doing a special project, students will be allowed more books at the discretion of the media specialist.

2nd-6th: Three books at a time
*When doing a special project, students will be allowed more books at the discretion of the media specialist.

Books are checked out for one 6-day cycle. If students want to keep a book longer, they will need to bring the book in at their next library time to renew it.

AR Folders:
Students are required to have their AR Folders in order to check out books. The folder is their “library card” since it contains their student ID number.

Lost or Damaged Books

Overdue/Damaged Books
When a student checks out a book it is his/her responsibility to return the book in good condition.

A book will be declared lost after it is missing for 30 days.  The cost of a damaged item will be assessed at the time the item is returned.

Books may be paid for online using the InTouch Payment service on your child's account.  You may access your account through the Parent Portal on our school website.

If a book has been lost, paid for, and then found and returned in good condition within 30 days, a refund can be issued.

Students with outstanding fees for lost or damaged books will not be able to check out new materials until the fees are paid.

Volunteering

Needed: Parent Volunteers to help in the library!

Help the environment, reduce emissions. Come early to pick up your student and enjoy our air conditioning while shelving books, instead of waiting in your car!

Needs: Shelving and assisting students in finding books. This can be once a week, once a month or daily.

Needed: Parent Volunteers at the Book Fair!

  • The Book Fair is 2 times a year, August and January
  • 2 hour increments to help monitor and stock the fair.
  • Decorating/setting up and take-down.

Thanks to the many parent volunteers for making this possible. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Mendoza (480-224-2601).
